Mr David J Morgan is a fully qualified Specialist Plastic Surgeon, having completed the training program of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, the peak body for surgical training in Australia.
Mr Morgan completed this rigorous process in 2003 to become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). To do so, he completed nearly ten years of post-graduate surgical training, and gained experience in all aspects of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery including skin cancer management, hand surgery, reconstructive microsurgery, and cosmetic surgery.
A desire for further knowledge and skills led him to depart for Canada in 2004 to undertake Clinical Fellowships in Craniofacial Trauma and Reconstruction in Toronto, under the auspices of the University of Toronto, and Aesthetic and Reconstructive Breast Surgery through the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
After returning to Australia, Mr Morgan was appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at The Alfred Hospital and the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Melbourne’s two major trauma centres, to specifically manage major facial trauma. He is currently the Head of the Faciomaxillary Surgery Unit at The Alfred Hospital and is involved in all aspects of the management of acute facial trauma, the correction of secondary facial deformities, and the ongoing management of congenital craniofacial deformities.
Mr Morgan’s private practice specialises in the management of skin cancer and melanoma, minor hand surgery, cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery, and cosmetic facial surgery, with a particular interest in rhinoplasty.
An ongoing passion for surgical education and mentoring has seen Mr Morgan act as the Victorian Regional Director of Training for the last five years, which has led to him being recently appointed as the National Chairman of the Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the body that oversees the training of future Plastic Surgeons across Australia. He is also a Council Member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, and on the Board of Surgical Education and Training of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
He is a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS), the Australian and New Zealand Society of Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons (ANZCMFS), and is an International Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
